Harrisburg Hotels
For those interested in the history of Pennsylvania, Harrisburg is the perfect location. The most popular attraction is the Capitol Building, which was designed in 1902 and has Renaissance themes throughout the building with murals, stained-glass windows and sculptures. Because of all the intricacies in the art, many residents of the area return to the Capitol Building again and again. There are also a few museums in the area that teach about the history of Pennsylvania. Most notably, The State Museum of Pennsylvania has many great exhibits and includes a little something for everyone including Pennsylvania history. Other museums in the area include the Fire Museum of Greater Harrisburg and the Whitaker Center, a science museum. History buffs will definitely enjoy the National Civil War Museum, which has a great overview of the Civil War. There are attractions for nature lovers as well. The Wildwood Lake Sanctuary and the Olewine Nature Center are great places to get away from the city and back to nature. Many head here to observe the birds at the feeders. City Island is a great place for families to visit where you can hit balls at the batting cages, play some miniature golf, or rent bikes, canoes, or kayaks for a family adventure.
